Dr. Tipu is a PGY-III and Educational Chief Resident at Harbor-UCLA County Family Medicine Residency Program.  He received his undergraduate degrees in NPB (Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior) and Philosophy from UC Davis, where he was involved with the free clinic system as an undergraduate board member.  He received his medical degree with a certificate in the Underserved Pathway from the University of Washington, where he organized and opened the first open community student-run free clinic in Washington.  

His professional interests include clinical research in the underserved population, evidence based medicine, and empowering the free clinic system via grassroots movements from within the community.  Dr. Tipu is currently leading a team of professionals and students from The University of California at Irvine in opening a new community health resource center in an underserved region of the Orange County.  This center will provide free health care to those who cannot afford it in the North Orange County region. 

Dr. Tipu enjoys providing medical care to the underserved throughout the world and has made this his life’s mission.  He has made numerous trips internationally including to Haiti.  As a family medicine physician, he provides holistic care.  He takes care of children and adults in a clinical setting and provides hospital care for adults.  He has a particular interest in obstetrics. 

For the upcoming academic year, Dr. Tipu has accepted a position as Clinical Instructor/Junior Faculty at The University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, Division of Family Medicine.  He will also be completing an advanced fellowship in surgical and high risk obstetrics to hone his skill set for managing obstetrics in rural, devastated, and underserved regions.

He has received multiple awards and personally enjoys wrestling, jiu-jitsu, cooking, photography, writing and spending time with his family.
